As we all know, there’s no place like YMCA Camp Eberhart!

Since the merger in January 2020, the YMCA of Greater Michiana has invested over $200,000, and dedicated immeasurable hours of planning, maintenance, and hard work to assure camp, equipment, buildings, and programs, continue to thrive for decades to come.

In the past two years, camp has seen a lot of change: new paint and repairs to many buildings including Leighton Lodge, Morris Lodge, Witwer House, Hands House, and the Greenleaf Treehouses; Klinger Hall has received a new dishwasher, ice maker, water softener, and enhancement to the refrigeration systems; upgrades and repairs to the Boathouse and boats have been made; heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning units have been improved or restored in many of our buildings; system changes have been implemented to our freshwater systems to continue to assure safe drinking water; new camp beds, mattresses and furniture have been purchased and reupholstered; we acquired highspeed fiber optic internet in partnership with MEC; and we’ve made purchases of new, much-needed, equipment like our tractor for the maintenance team, and more.

This, and so many other maintenance projects, by our maintenance team and the generous support and love for camp from Pete Fournier, who selflessly continues to donate his time, talents, and treasures to YMCA Camp Eberhart.

When you come to visit camp this year, you will also notice landscaping improvements around camp provided through the amazing talents and time commitment of Nancy O’Brien and alumni gardening friends, who have a passion to make camp a better place.

In addition, many investments have been made for new or updated facilities through generous donations from individuals such as Pete Fournier, John Postle, Sara Singleton and Lynn Pickard, Chris and Carmi Murphy, Tim and Mary Baker, the Camp Eberhart Alumni Association (CEAA), and other generous donors. These buildings include the new Powder Room bathhouse, Postle Hall, and the upcoming new bathhouse and Obenchain apartments.

While the physical upgrade of our facilities is important, the experience and quality programs we provide for our campers and families that visit YMCA Camp Eberhart tops the list.

Denise Peters, YMCA of Greater Michiana Chief Operating Officer and interim Camp Director, has hired a dedicated team to continue to review and strive for excellence in the programs and services we provide families and campers. We are committed to assuring and maintaining the camp experience that grows relationships, friendships, character, and experiences that create lifetime memory treasures.

Last year, Abonmarche Consultants were hired to help create a 5-year maintenance plan to be used by our maintenance and management team as we continue to upgrade and repair facilities.

We greatly appreciate your continued support for YMCA Camp Eberhart. Please do not hesitate to reach out to Denise Peters or me if you have any questions or feedback.

With record-high registrations, this summer is poised to be one to remember.
